How to Shop Small for the Holidays: Shop Local Houston

After starting cuteheads five years ago, I began to realize how important it was to put my money where my mouth was and shop local + shop small  for the Holidays. How could I expect people to shop at cuteheads instead of Target if I wasn’t doing the same? (Scroll down for #shopsmall holiday gift guide!)

I have made a purposeful effort to not only grow my business, but to give other local small business a platform for success through projects like Evelyn’s Park Pop Up in the Park (I was the inaugural chair/creator of it) and Mamas + Makers Market. These events focus on locally-run businesses that are doing amazing things for our community, and even though it’s an incredible amount of work, it brings me joy to not only help those business, but to shop them.

When it comes to shopping for the holidays, most of the people we know don’t need or want anything, amirite? I know my own family and friends are impossible to shop for; I have a very hard time buying them things I know they don’t need, just for the sake of buying them something. This is why I tend to think long and hard about the gifts I give people — ask my friends, it’s true! — and I almost always shop small and/or local businesses for such gifts.

So this year, I put together a list of some of my favorite small business in Houston — though many of them are online for you to shop! — for you to shop small for the holidays.

Which ones are your favorite?
