Floral Romper: How to Style One, Even If You’ve Just Had a Baby

I fell completely in love with this floral romper on my recent trip to Anthropologie. I love the colors, the shape, and the fun floral print. Orange and pink together happens to be one of my favorite color combinations, so this particular floral romper was a must-have for me.

At least I fell in love with it on the hanger. On me, I wasn’t so sure what to expect. Lately, I’ve been working on my fitness, hitting the gym as much as possible, and even sneaking in a 10-minute workout here and there at home. But let’s face it: body after baby just isn’t the same. I’m pretty sure after I started working out regularly post-baby #1, the weight kind of fell off and I was back in my jeans  in no time. This time, not so much. I don’t know if it’s the breastfeeding, or just being a little older, but it’s taking a little longer. Not that I’m complaining… I have a gorgeous little peanut to show for it, and I honestly don’t care as much as I did the first time around. But it would be nice to put my pre-pregnancy jeans on again without having to lie on the bed to button them.

Trying on this romper, I realized a couple of things. First, it’s all about how you FEEL. Do you feel good in it? Do you feel confident? If the answer is yes, then you’ve found a winner. And I DID feel good in it. I felt pretty and happy and I didn’t want to take it off.

Second, I actually liked how it fit. I love that this floral romper was long sleeved and high-necked, which creates a lengthening effect. And the shorts aren’t too short. I can put it on with some flats for daytime, and dress it up with heels like these from Splendid and that awesome necklace for nighttime. It’s also more of Winter white, so it can definitely transition between seasons. And the cinched waist was exactly what I needed to camouflage the area that needed camouflaging.

And third, it made me realize just how far I’ve come, and that I’m fine just where I am. I’ve been thinking a lot about confidence and identity lately. When you’re not in the body you’re use to, it can make you question a lot of things about yourself. But sometimes you have to stand back and look in the mirror in a floral romper to realize that you’ve come a long way. I want to appreciate what my body has done, that it’s grown two beautiful babies, and that even though it looks different than it used to, in its own way, it’s perfect. And it’s mine.

  1. Your romper is so cute! I just bought my first one a few weeks ago and love it. I have no idea why it took me so long to get one!

  2. This romper, and you, are PERFECTION! I love the length and print of this one; it looks so sophisticated, playful, and classy.

  3. At 11 weeks post partum, this couldn’t come at a better time. Dressing, especially now that I’m back to work is a struggle. Between clothes that don’t fit to needing boob access to feed/pump I have nothing to wear. I keep putting off getting new clothes until I’m where I want to be, but you inspired me to shop for my body right now and stop putting off getting clothes that make me feel good!

  4. This is the prettiest floral romper!! I love the necklace you paired with it!

  5. It’s unbelievably hard to find modest rompers…I love that this is still fun and floral, but not tough to cover the necessities. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!!!

  6. The breastfeeding should actually help with post baby weight loss and and returning your uterus to its normal size (this takes longer than you might think.) But I do agree, each subsequent baby takes a but more of a toll on our bodies. But I’m coming up on baby 3 this fall, and I agree, you just learn that a perfect tummy isn’t the most important thing in life anymore. 🙂

I love me a good romper. Also, I wish I could live inside an anthropologie store.

    1. It did help up until a certain point, and now I’m hanging on to those last 5 lbs. But it’s fine, totally worth it <3 Congrats on baby #3, that is so exciting! And I totally agree, I'm going to pop a tent inside of Anthro and live the shabby chic lyfe.
