I’m always looking for design inspiration, and this week, I found it in Carrie. Carrie is the founder & editor of WEAR + WHERE + WELL, a lifestyle blog exploring what to wear, where to go, and how to live well. Carrie and I met long ago, running in similar circles; even though she’s all about womenswear, I knew one day we’d work together. We always run into each other at local get togethers, and I’m always in awe of her style. The focus on color, the brightness of her looks… it complements the designs I come up with perfectly, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Carrie has  a style all her own that seems to sidestep a lot of the clichéd looks you see on fashion blogs. When Carrie told me she was styling this gorgeous berry-colored DVF dress, I knew I had to design something inspired by it for cuteheads‘ Summer release. We designed the Carrie Top to be the perfect slightly-boho piece, 100% cotton in bright fuchsia with white chiffon layover. Signature flutter sleeve, of course.

We met at Tiny Boxwood’s, where we paid our little model in blueberry muffins. The light was beautiful, the lattes were strong, and I definitely took home a couple of their world-famous chocolate chip cookies.

It was fascinating and inspiring to watch Carrie go through the process of producing a post, and although we work in difficult industries, there were a lot of similarities to our processes, and we agreed on this: this stuff is HARD. Pictures often don’t do the hard work justice. Photographer Ashley Cardoza had her hands full, trying to get the shot, wrangling our little model, and trying not to die of heat stroke in the Texas humidity (as we all were!), but she handled it with total grace like the pro that she is. I always love working with Ashley, and was actually introduced to her through Carrie. Small world.
