When Rachel Pitzel, founder of Club Momme approached me about teaming up for a Christmas styled shoot for kids, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. I worked with Rachel this time last year around the holidays, doing an Instagram takeover for Club Momme, which focused on me telling their readers about our Chanukah holiday traditions. When she told me about the concept, I knew it was a great fit for us. I know that cute Christmas photo ideas for kids can be hard to come by… can’t wait to show how this shoot turned out!

In any case, I caught up with Rachel after the shoot to find out what inspired her to put this together and what she loves about the holidays. Read our conversation below!

What was your inspiration for this shoot?

A fun and mommy and me holiday-themed shoot.  The holidays get so busy, and they are our absolute favorite time of year.  My friend Pamelyn and I were chatting and said, let’s create a gorgeous set up and invite over some friends, pick our favorite designers and see what happens.  Everyone got amazing photos for the holidays (and let’s be honest, our blogs and Instagram) and beautiful dresses, and we had a fun day together.

Everyone also got mommy and me jewelry by Starling and an opportunity to shoot with the incredible photographer Katee Grace.  Pamelyn from Bashery and Co. designs almost all of my events, and designed a gorgeous set up here.

Are you a fan of shopping small? Why? 

Always!  I started a business 5 years ago that I sold last year.  I worked like crazy to create my dream, build a community, establish relationships.  I was small and had very little marketing budget (okay, not marketing budget) except for me.  BUT that’s all you need today.  A belief in yourself, establishing relationships, and doing the best you can, every single day.  Fashion is really changing, and it is becoming very empowering to see smaller shops be able to flourish, and provide a unique and different spin on the clothes we wear every single day.

What was your favorite thing about the cuteheads dresses you used for the shoot? 

Everything! From the cut of the dress, the beautiful fabrics used, the details in the stitching, the gorgeous buttons and the way the dresses fit.  The dresses are an absolute holiday dream!

What’s your favorite thing about the holidays? 

Family and the traditions.  Oh, and I forgot the food!  And decorating.  The clothes and photoshoots.  Okay everything!

What are your favorite traditions with your little one? 

We love to decorate the moment one holiday is over to get ready for the next one.  We come up with the ideas together and get some custom decor on etsy or from small shops, and then we start talking about the meaning of the holidays.  We go full steam into every holiday in our house!
