It’s taken me this long just to decompress from our amazing family vacation to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was such an awesome week! I was so sad to step off the airplane into the oppressive Texas heat. It seriously made my question why I live here.
We got away with our entire family, which includes my dad, stepmom, two brothers, step-brother, and step-sister, plus everyone’s significant others. We rented a house, and all stayed there together, which really made for some great togetherness time, as well as some built-in babysitters.
I admit I was a little apprehensive about the trip, because I didn’t know how much there would be to do for toddlers and babies. I was so surprised and happy to learn that it’s a very family-friendly destination, and there’s PLENTY for little ones to do.
Family Time in Jackson Hole
This was the backyard of the house we stayed in! It had this beautiful deck, where we saw lots of deer, elk and even a few moose.
We had lots of snacks out on the deck. And it was on this trip I discovered that Naomi can rock a full-on topknot. Atta girl.
How cute were their matching 4th of July outfits?
Naomi and I baked a cake together and sang happy birthday to America!
What to Do in Jackson Hole
We took Naomi on her first bike ride! She absolutely loved riding along with her dad, and we’re going to have to get one of these for our house. Of course, the views aren’t quite like this. We got to spend lots of time outside, because the weather was absolutely perfect. One of the things we loved about Jackson was that although there was a lot to do, it still was relatively slow and not too busy of a town, unlike other Summer destinations. You kind of felt like you had the whole state to yourself sometimes.
We visited Teton National Park and went on a bus ride with a private tour guide all around the park. We saw herds of bison, elk and lots of other animals. The bus had sunroofs in the top, which you could stick your head out of and get a closer look at all the animals. Naomi loved sitting on top of the bus. We’d never kept her up so late (the tour was from 5-9:30) and she did great! We were thrilled, because she’s a flower girl in a wedding coming up and we’re hoping she’ll stay up late and party with us.
What to Eat in Jackson Hole
What would vacation be without amazing food? We made a stop at Moo’s Ice Cream, which is a local favorite. Naomi got a combo: huckleberry and strawberry. You think she liked it?
We had brunch at Persephone Bakery, which is definitely one of the most popular spots in town, judging by the reviews and the fact that the line was out the door and all the way across the street. Naomi almost finished this giant cinnamon brioche by herself, and when Doug asked if he could had a bit, she politely declined. When you’re in Jackson, you have to stop there for a pastry and a latte!
The best part of the trip was relaxing and being together. I know you’re not supposed to say that your favorite part of the trip is “being together,” but it’s the truth. Life is so busy these days with work and activities and just trying to do it all, so it felt nice to have literally nothing to do. We could sit and blow bubbles and look at the clouds for hours and that was considered a productive day.
Have you taken a family vacation to Jackson Hole or Yellowstone before? Is it in your future travel plans?

First off, I love the matching T-shirts! I’ve always wanted to go to Jackson Hole. It looks so pretty!
I used to live out West (UT and CO) and everyone always seemed to go to Jackson Hole – we never made it but your pics make me wish we did!
It looks gorgeous! I’ve never been there but I love going to national parks and other outdoor places with my kids, love watching them discover nature int hat way! And oh my gosh, that ice cream and bakery, yes please!
Oh my goodness!! Those pictures are precious. It looks like you had a blast on your vacation. I always get that feeling of “what the heck am I doing living here” every time I come back to Texas from Colorado. But I could never leave this place! I love Texas way too much.
