It’s arguably the best time of year in Texas… Rodeo Houston has arrived! The horses, the kids Western outfits, the fried Oreos… it’s all very exciting and fun (and delicious). If you’re in Houston, then you know that the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo — the biggest one in the world! — is an incredible place to take your kids.
The 3-week event features amazing food, rides of all kinds, lots of farm animals, and, of course, concerts from the best artists. We made it to to opening night featuring Garth Brooks, and loved every minute!
Part of going to the rodeo is having the perfect outfit. And cute cowboy boots are a must when it comes to kids western outfits! Boots, and the perfect twirly dress.
We had the best time putting together this styled shoot in honor of the Houston Rodeo, featuring the cutest rodeo outfits for girls. We worked with Le Zu Photography to capture these modern cowgirls in dresses that could double for everyday dresses. We featured the Mackenzie dress and Bridgette dress, both perfect for your trip to the rodeo!
Chambray is one of my favorite materials to use for Spring, it’s so lightweight and so versatile. Both of the dresses we styled — the Mackenzie and the Bridgette — could be styled in a million different ways. It’s a closet staple that will transition well into Fall.
I’ve been seeing bell sleeves everywhere, they’re so cute and trendy for Spring. And I love the delicate floral pattern on the Mackenzie dress with the giant ruffles. Both are unique dresses for girls.
We teamed up with Tudor House Cookies, who created these insanely cute Texas and cowboy cookies for the occasion. The kids couldn’t get enough! I’ve learned that tempting the models with treats they’ll get to take home at the end of the shoot makes all the difference in getting little ones to listen!
If you’re in Houston too, hope you make it to the rodeo this year… it’s totally worth a trip!
