I don’t know about you, but pretty soon after I find out I’m pregnant, my mind starts to wander about what the nursery is going to look like. I know a little, bitty baby doesn’t NEED a pretty nursery, but I kind of love decorating for my sweet girls. I also love creating rooms for the girls that can last for years. I know I won’t have to redo either of their rooms for a long time. I didn’t set up the nursery for either of my girls until the very end of my pregnancies, but I did at least have most things picked out and ready to install. For baby #2, I didn’t actually get everything hung and put together until a few months after she was born, and to be totally honest, I was hanging a few things the morning we were schedule to photograph the space. Nothing like a deadline to get your butt in gear, right? I am so excited to (finally) share Tova’s black and white nursery tour with you today!
My first daughter’s nursery is pink and gold and girly, and I knew for Tova’s room, I wanted to do something a little more funky and modern. I’m all about color — if you can’t tell from my Instagram feed — but I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and go in a totally different direction. Of course, I couldn’t resist a LITTLE color, and tossed in some pink accents to make it just a little girly. I can’t help myself.
The gallery wall is my favorite part of the whole room. I left a little room to add more if I want, but I love how it turned out. Tova’s name was created by GaugeNYC, an amazing metalwork shop I actually found through Anthropologie. Anthro sells cool ready-made pieces by them, but after a little investigation, I discovered them on Etsy and worked with them to create a custom piece for Tova.
Shop Tova’s monochrome prints wall:
The World Is Your Oyster // C’est La Vie // Honey Bunny print // Make Today Ridiculously Awesome // Be A Unicorn // star print // bunny head pop art
The book shelf was probably the hardest item to find. I knew I wanted something open on top with storage on the bottom, and finding that in white or gray took forever. I finally found this awesome piece from Martha Stewart’s home line.
One of my favorite items in the room is Tova’s rug from Lorena Canals. I love the sweet star pattern, and I extra-love that it’s machine washable! Can you believe you can just pop that bad boy into wash after baby spits up all over it? Now THAT is brilliant. I feel like there aren’t a lot of cute rug options that are also totally practical, and this is one of them.
