There aren’t a lot of mom things I’ve mastered, but our morning time is something I think we’ve nailed. It took me a long, long time to get here, and things are about to change drastically since we’re 3 weeks away from having another newborn in the house, but for now, our routine is enjoyable and not stressful. I admit, I thrive on a schedule, and I believe my daughter does well when her routine is predictable too. Having stress free mornings gets us started on the right foot for the day.
My husband and I are both entrepreneurial, and no two days are the same professionally. Having a family routine that we all know and follow helps us manage our days.
3 Tips for Stress Free Mornings:
1. Wake up before everyone else. I’m always the first one awake, unless my husband goes to the gym, which he does around 5:30. I know that the mornings are by far my most productive times. I can get more done in an hour or two first thing in the morning than any other time, so I take advantage of it.
Lately, I’ve been eating breakfast before my daughter wakes up at 7 am, and 9 times out of 10, breakfast is a yogurt. I recently discovered Plenti Oatmeal Meets Greek Yogurt and it’s my new favorite breakfast as well as my new favorite midday snack. The consistency is creamy with delicious chunks of oatmeal mixed in, and it’s available in some of my favorite yogurt flavors (love the peach!). Best of all, it actually keeps me full for longer, which this very pregnant person can appreciate. Try it for yourself today! Print a coupon good for $.35 off 1 cup of Plenti Plentiful Greek Yogurt.
2. Be prepared. As soon as my daughter wakes up and I go into her room, I lay out her clothes for school and we start talking her out of bed. This is a major key to my stress free mornings. Even at 2, she loves to stay in her crib as long as possible, and tells me every day, “I’m still sleeping!” I know that I need to give her plenty of time to be ready to get up, so I prepare as much as I can. As soon as she’s downstairs and has her breakfast, I make her lunch. My daughter’s school has a lot of food regulations so sometimes packing a healthy lunch can be challenging. Lately, I’ve been packing her a Plenty Oatmeal Meets Greek Yogurt, which she loves. It’s a way for her to get a healthy mix of protein and carbs into her lunch, and I know she’ll come home satisfied and full.
3. Stay positive. I’m definitely a morning person, but not everyone is. I try to remember that no one can wake up in a good mood all the time, and that sometimes there are going to be hiccups and frustrations. I’m really working on my patience these days, which I mentioned in my parenting New Year’s resolutions post. When things aren’t going according to plan, I try to keep myself calm and collected and talk through the problem. Easier said than done, I admit, but I’m working on it!
What are your tips for stress-free mornings? I’d love to hear them, especially since our mornings are going to get CRAZY in about 3 weeks!

It is so easy to just hand one of these to my kids in the morning. I know they are getting fiber and protein. Win win!

Getting up early is a huge one for me. Sometimes when the alarm goes off, I decide if I want to have more sleep or a peaceful, easy morning. Unfortunately, sleep wins a lot of the time 🙂

I prep our lunches and snacks on Sunday nights so we can grab them and go throughout the week. Also I think if I didn’t wake up before everyone else I probably wouldn’t even get a shower in! lol
Oh gosh, if I could only manage #1 on your list… the kids wake up so, so early!!
I remember when my son was in school, organization and planning made such a difference. Even now as I’m at home all the time, I still have to have organization in my life.
This looks so tasty! I’ve never heard of that oatmeal before but I will keep an eye out to try it out.

These are some great tips! Thank you! And wow does that look yummy too! Anything which involves basically no preparation is a good start to my day! 🙂
Oh my! Your daughter sounds just like mine, she is nearly 10 years old now and she has literally asked me to wake her up earlier just so she can lay in bed longer…. sorry, it doesn’t get any easier to get these girls out of bed. I was the same way and still would be if I didn’t have to make sure they’d make it to the bus stop on time.
I have seen these Plenti cups at my local grocery store and was wondering how there were! They look really good and I just may have to try them!!
I’ve actually never seen or tried these. It seems like a great idea though. I love me some greek yogurt 🙂 I bet you could add fruit and make it extra yummy!
I’ve never seen this! But it really looks good and would love to try it.
I haven’t heard of these yet, but they sure look yummy. Love oatmeal and love yogurt and of course who doesn’t like fruit. Tasty… got to try em’! Thanks for sharing.
Your daughter is adorable! Morning routines are definitely key to how the rest of your day will go.
I just showed my 5 year old this post and told him what was in the yogurt and his eye’s lit up! We are big fans of yogurt and oatmeal in our house and can’t imagine how yummy it is. I was hoping I’d see the word coupon and can’t wait to pick up a few. I pinned it so I’d remember to go out and get them. I hope Target has them.
