5 of the Coolest Kidswear Brands to Watch for Fall/Winter 2015

Aside from cuteheads (obviously I have to mention my own brand, right?), I’ve been on the hunt for cute, small-batch clothes for Naomi. I’ve got hair bows galore and shoes to last for quite awhile, but lately, I’ve been underwhelmed by N’s closet. I don’t know if it’s because half her things are covered in food stains now, but I digress. Such is life with an almost-2 year old.

I love to support other small businesses through my wallet, and although big-name brands make plenty of cute things for little ones, I love when Naomi is wearing something unique and handmade that I know supported another small shop. It makes me feel good to know where her clothes came from and that they were made safely and responsibly. We’ve become pretty detached to knowing where our clothes come from, where our food comes from, where EVERYTHING comes from, and knowing the backstory behind a brand gives me comfort. So here are a few of my favorite brands to shop this Fall:

June and January – Another line that underwent a rebranding this year. Formerly Little Hip Squeaks, this is a line I’ve been following for quite some time too. I love to accessorize, so their basic, comfy cotton knits are absolutely perfect for long-term wear.

What I’m loving now: Their swing dresses are so beautifully constructed and come in a wide variety of colors, you’re sure to find one you love. I had my eye on the black and white stripe, but of COURSE it’s sold out in Naomi’s size, so we’re waiting for the restock. Founder Amy has really built a brand with a loyal following and I can tell why.

Wee Rascals – With legendary heroes, NOT princesses and athletes, as their inspiration, these two ladies set out to create a line of comfy tees that were not only clever, but inspiring for both kiddos and mamas. They wanted real heroes for their kids to look up to, and Wee Rascals was created. Each tee features a true hero like Abe Lincoln and Frieda Kahlo. You’re sure to be inspired by their line and their business.

What I’m loving now: All the raglans for cooler temps!

lot 801

Lot 801 – What I love about Lot 801 is its focus on gender neutral clothing that’s still cute and kid-friendly. Not everything has to have a princess on it, amirite? What’s also cool about Lindsay White’s line is that she designs the prints herself and ha the fabric made, so you’ll never find her prints in other shops. Her topknots were some of the first Naomi wore, and I still think back to how cute those were, and can’t wait to get my hands on more super-soft cotton from her shop.

What I’m loving now: The Scribble Leggings and the matching Scribble circle scarf. And they’re both on sale!

fin and vince pom pom beanie

Fin and Vince – Formerly Finomenon Kids, they went through a rebranding this year, and the result has been absolutely adorable. I began following them on Instagram ages ago, and continue to be so impressed by their collections. I love the muted, monochrome colors with pops of color here and there. Their new collection drops mid September, and I plan to get my hands on some.

What I’m loving now: This awesome beanie (and if it ever gets cold, I know a little lady who would rock this).

crew-and-lu-polka-dot-top

Crew and Lu – Crew and Lu is a children’s lifestyle brand founded by Uyen Carlson, who has such an eye for color and construction. The styles she creates are so unique, and so modern, you might even forget they’re for kids, save for the cute fabrics and childlike silhouettes.

What I’m loving now: I’m loving the Polka Dot Top for Fall, it’s a great neutral piece to wear into next year.

  1. I love these clothes. I especially like the gender neutral shirts and the romper. I have all boys, so it’s sometimes a challenge to find them cute stuff. I’m going to check these all out. Thank you!

  2. I love this post! I have two kids (boy and a girl) and I’l always looking for new things for them to wear that aren’t what you always see in the stores.
