My Favorite Customer Photos of the Year

Hello 2016! I thought it would be fitting for my first post of 2016 to be a roundup of my favorite cuteheads customer photos from 2015, since 2015 was definitely the year that Instagram and social media became pretty important for my business. I loved seeing so many of my customers posting cute pics of their kids in outfits I made, and it was so rewarding to meet new customers through the pics other people were sharing.

2015 was the year I finally figured out exactly who and what cuteheads is. When I first launched, the line was focused on knit separates that featured cute cartoon characters. The idea was that you could mix and match the pieces to make different outfits; the line was cute, comfortable and fairly low priced. But as I grew and changed and had my own daughter, that line no longer matched my taste. I also started experimenting with woven fabrics (non-stretchy) and people started asking me to make custom dresses for them based on silhouettes I was experimenting with. In late 2014, we launched our first flutter sleeve dress. We worked tirelessly on the proprietary pattern, creating something unique that could be modified over and over to make different looks for different seasons. This became my signature style and look, and the dresses, tops and outfits we launched in 2015 almost all went in that direction.

There are the exceptions, like the cuteheads Heart Patch Leggings, which continue to be best-sellers for me, but overall, there was a shift to dressier, more fashion-forward looks for kids last year. It was a fun, wild ride to watch it evolve.

I hope to see 2016 be a year of continued growth, and I’ve set some goals for the year.

Business Goals for 2015

  1. Start really exploring wholesale and factory production. By the end of the year, I was completely overwhelmed with the number of orders coming in, and I found it difficult to manage the number of orders we needed to make using our current production methods. I will be researching factories in the US, and working on getting the line into more stores.
  2. Continue to grow the brand online in new and exciting ways. As I mentioned in a post last week, social media isn’t the end-all, be-all of marketing. There are so many things that work, so many things to try, and this will be the year i start experimenting with new marketing methods.
  3. Expand the line to include more than just dresses and tops. I focused heavily on accessories and small items in the past and got away from that while I was honing in on what the new direction would be. This year, I plan to launch more accessories and smaller items that will be available at a lower price point so that people who want to shop cuteheads can do so without breaking the bank.

I hope you’ll follow along on the journey as this business grows and changes this year! I can’t wait to see what’s in store.

    1. She was such a good little model for cuteheads last year! I’m sure it won’t be the last time she’s featured! Thanks for everything, so glad we met last year! xo

  2. Love these photos! I’ve only done a few photo shoots of young children and boy it can be challenging! Kudos to you! Your work is gorgeous!

    1. It’s SO tough! I like to work with older kids now if I can, 1 and 2 year olds are definitely the toughest for us. But they’re so cute, it’s hard to resist!

  3. Cuties!!! Honored that Sophia is included 🙂 Can’t wait to see the amazing things you do in 2016!

  4. Wow. Just WOW. These babies are so cute and stylish in your line! Loved reading this post for so many reasons. As a blogger and shop owner myself, I am really trying hard to put more focus into both this year and loved reading what worked for you and what you want to do for 2016. Can I wine and dine you and pick your brain in the process? 🙂 You are seriously such an inspiration!

    1. Anytime!! I don’t think I realized you also had a shop… we definitely need to chat! Going to check it out now! When we have these babies, we’ll have to have some “play dates” (just us sitting around with the babies in car seats, ha) and talk shop too. xo
