Top Holiday Gift Ideas for Small Business Owners

There’s really nothing I enjoy more than giving gifts. Getting gifts is great, but giving them, finding that perfect gift for that important person, brings me a lot of joy. I take the whole gift-giving thing very seriously (and wrapping!), and I thought long and hard about cool, creative Christmas and holiday gifts I’d genuinely want to receive as a small business owner.

The criteria was simple: 1) Is it actually useful? Is it going to sit idly in a drawer somewhere for all eternity, like a pretty gold stapler would? If so, it can’t be included. And 2) If I imagined myself opening the package, would I be excited to see the item in the box or bag? If so, it’s a good fit. I’ve detailed them below, let me know if you agree:

  1. Blowout from the DryBar // There are DryBars all over the country, most likely in the giftee’s city. There’s really nothing like having your hair blown out for a big event or meeting, it gives you that extra boost of confidence. My brother and sister-in-law just gave this to me for my birthday and it’s one of the best gifts ever!
  2. Adult coloring book // Small business owners are always stressed out, why not give her something to destress? I recently discovered adult coloring book, and losing yourself in a picture can take your mind off even the most daunting task and even give you clarity.
  3. Beautiful thank you notes // Maybe some people think it’s old-fashioned, but to me, there’s nothing like a hand-written thank you note on pretty stationery. I keep quite a collection, and write a lot of thank you’s. I’m a bit of a paper junkie, so this is an awesome gift.
  4. Weekender bag // Sometimes you have a quick meeting or conference out of town for one or two nights, and don’t need a full suitcase. A weekender is perfect for this kind of travel. This one in a neutral tan leather is too cute AND affordable.
  5. Candles // I love receiving candles. There, I said it. I probably burn one at least once a day, and I love for my office to smell pretty.
  6. A journal or notepad for jotting down ideas // Sometimes you wake up in the middle of the night with an “aha!” moment, or you remember there’s something important you need to do. I prefer to write things down versus keeping things in a note in my iPhone, and this journal is extra-pretty.
  7. “But first coffee” mug // Ban.do makes gorgeous office accessories, and coffee is pretty much my #1 office accessory, especially in a cute mug like this one.
  8. Striped thermos // For the gal who’s a little more preppy and a little less quirky, this coffee thermos might be more up her alley.
  9. Dainty gold bar bracelet // Hey… if she has to be on her computer all day, might as well have something pretty on her wrist to look at.
  10. A stylish briefcase // Briefcases are a necessity for a small business owner who wants to be taken seriously. I take one to meetings with me, and I even take it to coffee shops to tote my laptop around. I love this one because it’s sleek and understated.
  11. Luxe eye cream // I for one don’t get enough sleep, and I’m sure the small business owner in your life doesn’t either. I’m also sure she doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on fancy eye products, but would love to have some. Hint, hint.
  12. Business card holder // Because gold. Obviously.
  13. Business card holder, option 2 // I love the message emboldened on this one. “Like a boss” indeed.

  1. Love this so much! I’ve been needing a business card holder as I am starting to acquire more through interviews and what not. And I never say no to a great notebook either!!

  2. I’ve seen the rise of adult coloring books and I LOVE it! It’s supposed to have the same benefits as meditation.

  3. Wow, I am in love with all of these! I want them for myself…but I am going to get that coloring book for my sister for Christmas for sure. I’ve never had a blowout, but my friend got me one after I had my baby and I keep saving it…but I don’t know what for! This is going to sound dumb…but what is the purpose of a blowout? I think candles are the perfect gift, and my friend is graduating law school next month; I like the idea of the gold business card holder. Perfection!

  4. My SIL is a small business owner and I think she would be thrilled with most of these gifts. I have such a hard time buying for others though, so I really need to step up my game. I think any of these would be great.

  5. All great ideas. Love the weekender bag and what a thoughtful gift to the blow out bar! I would love to have that. The thermos is super cute too.

  6. I love that BIG IDEAS notepad. I always have soooo man ideas and usually jot them in the notes app on my phone. But if my phone ever kicked the bucket I would have a panic attack. I should really write stuff down!!
