Dear Naomi,

Tomorrow you’re going to be two years old. You exude joy and radiate excitement. You are incredibly headstrong and stubborn (wonder where you get those qualities from?), and you want to do everything yourself. Your smile lights up the room, and I always say that your resting face is that exuberant smile.

You love to get dressed up in twirly skirts and cute dresses. You’ll wear anything with a cat on it, even though we don’t have a cat and never will because your dad is highly allergic. You never want to leave your room without a bow. In fact, you remind me if I forget to put one in your hair.

You are extremely curious and you love to learn. You love to read and have most of your books memorized. You have been loving school (except for a little hiccup at the beginning of the year) and you come home saying and doing the most amazing things that neither I nor your dad taught you to do. We have full-on conversations with you now, and even though sometimes your emotions get the best of you, you can clearly communicate what you want. That doesn’t mean we can always do those things for you, but we love our daily chats with you.

You’re sweet, sensitive, emotional and outgoing. You’re already a leader, walking backwards with the teacher at the front of the line every chance you get. I can only hope you grow up never afraid to speak your mind, do what’s right, and take action. I hope you continue to be a leader and that you always aim to be as kind and giving as possible.

We couldn’t be more proud of you and we’re so glad you’re ours.

  1. The comment about the cat is precious! My husband is allergic too, so no future child of mine will ever get to enjoy having a cat either.

Hope Naomi had a fabulous birthday!

  2. She is absolutely precious. Enjoy her because time goes by way too fast. Well, at least it did with my boys 🙁
